Technique Wednesday!

Hello all!

I have a different type of tutorial this week, well more of a tip really.  Have you ever seen a sweet image you would love to add to a card, layout of other type of project?  Well, a few months back I found ta few of these Beatrix Potter books at an antique store....
They brought back sweet memories of reading them to my big boys when they were babes.  I don't know why but I didn't keep any of them.

They have such sweet illustrations.....
When I bought the book I had anticipated cutting out the illustrations to use directly onto a project.  But, I couldn't bring myself to do this.  Then I saw this tip online and thought I'd pass it on to you.  It's the perfect solution!

Scan or photocopy your favourite storybook images, then take it one step further and print them onto textured white cardstock.  They look like original pieces of art!
Beautiful right?

And have a look at this image on a card I made for my Mom...
Just as a caution, all images in books are copyrighted.  Using them for your personal use is okay, but not for the purpose of selling your creations.

Thanks for stopping by today to learn a new tip!

New in Store!

Hello!

I thought I'd do a quick share of my favourite scrapbook adhesive.....

The GlueGlider Pro by Glue Arts.

It comes in many different 'strengths', I personally prefer the PermaTac.  It is really strong, I don't have to use much adhesive and I can hand my layouts up without fear that pieces will fall off.
This is what the refills look like, and they are super easy to use.  Simply pull out the old one by placing your fingers on either side of the 'nib' (the green rolly thing!) and push in a new one!  You don't have to do any aligning at all.

a good tip is to buy at lest one refill when you make your first handle purchase (the handle comes with one insert.  Which reminds me, i should stock up now before the retreat in 2 1/2 weeks!

Thanks for coming to visit!

New Class for April

Hello blog friends!

This month we thought we'd do something a little different and so we are offering an altered item for the class! We will be making a cute photo box (or recipe box or card box).

It would make a super sweet Mother's day gift for the Mom or Grandmother in your life, or even something wonderful for yourself.  It can be used on a coffee table for loose photos or to store photos you want to scrapbook.

Check out the class section of the sidebar for all of the details!

Hope to see you there!

Layouts to share

Hello all,

I have some beautiful layouts to share, created by our very own Eileen (if you have been to one of our crops, she usually is found at the cash register holding down the fort) aside from being a math genius, she is super talented in the scrappy department too!  Check out some of her recent work....

Apparently she did these after returning from Scrapfest, the girl has stamina too, as I was dead on my feet when I got home!

Thanks for sharing Eileen, you are truly inspirational!

Scrapfest

Hello all!

Well it's all over, and what a great time we had!  Don't get me wrong it was a lot of work, but oh so worth it!

Our booth was beautiful, we had so many lovely comments from customers and other vendors alike!   We learned so much and have even started a list of things to prepare for next time.

Laura (designer), Anita (owner), Elaine (owner), Eileen (financial wizard)

Our booth was super busy!  We sold out of so many things, and took orders from what will now be new customers.

We even had to restock our shelves Friday night!

We met up with old friends and made some new ones!  Our draw prize had more entries than we cared to count, that was awesome!

We had a fun and funky 'make and take' at our booth on Saturday morning, run by the beautiful Casey from Westcott, with help from her dad, John, also of Westcott.  (Thank you to them for that.)

There was a huge, huge crop going on behind the scenes... several of the ladies popped over to shop for necessities (ie. anything scrapbooking related hehehe).

One lovely lady even came back to show us the layout she created with her purchases!  Thanks Ann, your layout is beautiful!

'free spirit' by Ann Davies

Personally, I got a real thrill out of how many people asked to photograph my designs, you can't image what that does to my heart!

I promised to share the name badges that I created for us to wear at Scrapfest, check them out....

The instructions for the fan-fold flower is here, and then I just layered circles on a scalloped circle, with a computer printed name and a flower embellishment.

Anyway, on behalf of the beautiful owners ......

Anita and Elaine

...... I would like to send a huge thank you to everyone that made our weekend a success, from Lisa Sales Furtney the gracious owner and organizer of the event - and her attentive staff, the kind vendors that came to say hello and left a compliment behind (and a few of you even sent a customer or two our way), Westcott for providing our 'make and take' and for giving us a big shout out during a class, and the many, many customers that visited our booth and left with a little something that you will add to a project you create with heart.  This is a fairly new business for us and we are still in the learning phase, and we want you to know that we appreciate each and every one of you for sharing your knowledge, your kindness, your creations and your hard earned dollars with us.  THANK YOU! We can't wait to do it again!

Tutorial Wednesday

Hello blog friends!

As always it's time for another technique for you today!  I have crated a quick video tutorial about adding glitter to your projects using a quick and easy technique that is fairly mess free, and the glitter stays on your creations!

And now for the still photos....

Thanks for popping by to see what I have been up to, hope you get some play time today!

Another Reveal

Hello blog friends!

I was fortunate enough to receive a bonus kit to play with this month.  It featured papers, embellishments and a mini album from Bo Bunny's "Gabrielle' collection.  This is a beautiful collection that is so feminine, without being overly fru fur,  yet very soft and soothing.  It would be a great collection to use to create a page of a beautiful daughter, niece or grand daughter.  Maybe one of you and a special someone, or showing a relationship between you and your Mom or a grandmother and grandchild.  or even, a travel page featuring your family amid stunning scenery  The possibilities are endless.  Here is what I created....

12 x 12 'True Beauty" layout

'Spread your wings" chipboard mini album

I have asked Elaine to add photos of her sweet faced daughter, Zoe, to these for me.  Mini albums are a great way to feature an event that you have  several photos for or a special person in your life.

Thank you for popping by the blog today!
