World Card Making Day Challenge

Hello there!

Did you know that Saturday is World Card Making Day?  We are having a crop that day and offering a card class.  But we thought we should do something to celebrate, so we came up with this sketch for you to play with....

Of course, you know you are welcome to rotate the sketch and the butterfly is just a suggestion as to where to place some sort of decorative element.

Once you have created a card, link it up below, one lucky participant will be receiving a prize from us.  You have one week to play along, the contest closes are midnight on October 7th.  You may enter as often as you like, but it must be evident that you used the sketch.

Prize....

Sketch-y Friday

Hi there!

We have a new sketch to share today....

Can I tell you a secret ... is it okay to admit that I created this sketch months ago, that my style has changed a lot since then, that this sketch stumped even me!

But since it was my turn to create a sample, I gave it my all.  Sometimes when I am not feeling crafty or am too tired to pull out crafty stuff I play with my Silhouette software.  That's exactly what I did here.  First I made a film strip cut file, because I had been wanting to for a while.  I am not gonna lie, it took a little while to create, but I love making my own files so it was fun, too.  Then I started laying elements down, sort of like a mock up, combining cut files I have purchased with ones that I have made, keeping to the layout of the sketch.  This is a screen shot of what I was working on.

Then I set to, cutting out the elements and creating my layout......

..... um yeah, I kind of like how this turned out!

It is clean and crisp, but still has some fun factor.  Have I told you how much I love this machine???  Well, I love the software just as much!

Now it's your turn!  Play along and share it with us!

Here is a run down of the rules.  We are offering a little prize to one lucky scrapper that participates in at least 2 of this month's 4 sketches.  Just link up your creations at the bottom of each Sketch-y Friday post, all qualifying scrappers will be entered into a random draw for a prize.  Only one entry per sketch please.  You have until Tuesday October 1st at midnight to participate in any of September's sketch challenges, each linkup tool will remain open until that date!  But remember, you must play along with 2 different sketches for a chance to win!  (International participants may be required to pay some shipping fees. )

Would you like to be one of our sketch layout designers?  Each month we are offering one lucky participant the opportunity to create the reveal sample for one of our sketches!  So if you are interested in being considered, play along with at least two sketches and while you are linking up your creations add "GDT" after your name.  The only stipulation is that you must have a blog.

Thanks again to all of our participants, keep joining us and linking up as we love seeing what you create!

Now getting creating!   And thanks for visiting!

Inspiration on Thursday

Hey there!

Happy Thursday, we have some inspiration to share with you!

Today's inspiration comes from Danie.  This is a sweet layout that features 3 good sized photos on a single page, without looking cluttered.  Way to go Danie!  Now I happen to know that this great stitched background paper was a gift for Danie form her friend Ronna.  How wonderful is that ,,,, maybe we could all use a Ronna in our lives ;)

Thanks for sharing Danie!  And thank you all for visiting!

Paint Stamped Backgrounds Tutorial

Hi there!

It's time to share a new tutorial,  today I thought I would share this fun painted background tutorial. It is quick and easy and you can use it on anything from cards and layouts to altered items.

Gather up your supplies, some acrylic paint and a large stamp.  I am altering a plain gift bag but this would look great on a layout background too.

Add some paint to your stamp and well, just stamp!  It is that easy!  You can lay it down neat and tidy or kind of messily like I did.

Since mine is a gift bag, I will share how I embellished it further.  Do you recognize the flower from my tutorial a couple of weeks ago?

Thanks for visiting!

Sketch-y Friday and a Guest Designer!

Hello and happy Friday!

As always, Friday means we have a new sketch for you to play with!  Plus, this week we have  a special treat, it is Guest Designer week here on the ScrapMuch? blog!

Here is our sketch.....

This month Jenessa Franco is joining us as our Guest Designer.

Welcome Jenessa!  I will let Jenessa tell you a little bit about herself......

"Hi I'm Jenessa and I recently relocated to Dallas with my husband Noé, our 5-year old son Santiago and our 3-year old daughter Paolina. I first discovered scrapbooking in 1995, and I made my first album using construction paper and rubber cement...an absolute archival disaster! Fast forward to the present, and I've become quite passionate about this constantly evolving art form. Having always endeavored in arts & crafts such as drawing, painting and counted cross stitch, paper crafting has been such a natural progression for me. My husband has been incredibly supportive of my hobby obsession by allowing me to utilize half of our spacious family room as my own personal crafting area as well as hanging out with our kids when I need some creative therapy. I'm flattered and excited to be a Guest Designer for ScrapMuch?"

You can find Jenessa's blog here.   Now let's have a look at her gorgeous creation...

Such and incredible mixture of sweetness that is elegance and boyish, too.

Now it's your turn, friends!

You have until Tuesday October 1st at midnight to participate in any of September's sketch challenges,, each linkup tool will remain open until that date!  But remember, you must play along with 2 different sketches for a chance to win!  (International participants may be required to pay some shipping fees. )

Also, we are launching something new!  Would you like to be one of our sketch layout designers?  Each month we are going to offer one lucky participant the opportunity to create the reveal sample for one of our sketches!  So if you are interested in being considered, play along with at least two sketches and while you are linking up your creations add "GDT" after your name.  The only stipulation is that you must have a blog.

Now getting creating!   And thanks for visiting!

Yes we have some crafty inspiration for you.

This was sent to us from Vinoja, it is a sweet nursery decor item.  But seriously pretty enough for anywhere and a great way to use up your scraps!

Mini Album Tutorial

Hi there!

Happy Wednesday to y'all, I have a little mini album tutorial for you.  This would be a great little gift for someone you love for no particular reason (the best kind of gifts to give and get)  or it would make a  nice little brag book for your purse.

It doesn't take much product to pull this together, just a great sheet of patterned paper (like this one from Fancy Pants) and a few embellies and ribbon. I went with about a half sheet of 2 patterns, but you really only need one full sheet.

Start by cutting down your patterned paper to 5.5 x 12 .
You can see both sides of the pattern in these two photos.  I am going to use the plain side for the outside and the pattern for the inside, since we will be covering the outside anyway.
With whatever scoring tool you have, score  at 3 inch intervals across the paper so that you have 4 sections.  Then score 1.5 inches up from the bottom of your paper.
Snip the score lines from the bottom until you reach the score line going across the length of your paper, do not cross this line.
Now you will fold up the little flaps that you created, we will be turning these into pockets.
I hope you can see it in this photo, add some adhesive (the tape style works best for this application) to either side of each flap, staying close to the edges to make your pockets as wide as possible.
This photo just shows you that you should still be able to insert things into the pockets.
At this point you will have something that looks like this little accordion  folded doodad.
Apply some adhesive to the back of your pocket page and set it aside for a minute.
Now cut a piece of paper that measure 4 x 12 and score it at 3 inch intervals.

At this point I got a little ahead of myself, but the next step is to create book fold.  So add adhesive to the middle two sections, so that you can adhere them together like the photos below.
Now join the middle sections together to create your book.
Run some adhesive across the middle of the outside of your mini book and adhere some ribbon along it.  This will act as a way to hold the booklet closed.
Now the fun part, embellishing the front and inside, then filling those pockets.
I added some tags (to add some notes) and a few embellies here and there.

A little envie for some mementos.
Now all I have to do is tuck in some photos and give it away!

Thanks for visiting!
